If You Care,Leave them There
This is the time of year that you will see young deer and young elk alone. Often what appears to be an orphaned animal, usually is not. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is reminding residents not to pick-up deer fawns or other young wildlife this spring, even if they appear to be sick or need help. Information Officer from the Montana FWP, Vivaca Crowser says their motto is “if you care, leave them there”

Crowser says once human sent is detected on the young animals the adult animals, often abandoned them. To protect Montana’s deer and elk from the threat of Chronic Wasting Disease the FWP does not accept deer and elk brought in from the wild.
