39 year-old Ray Dolin of West Virginia, the man who claimed to be traveling across America 'looking for kindness', confessed to authorities in Glasgow, Montana on Thursday night that he shot himself while waiting for a ride. Initially, Dolin told Valley County Sheriff's Deputies on Saturday that a man in a maroon pickup truck shot him in the arm and drove away.

Deputies later arrested 52 year-old Lloyd Danielson, charging him with felony assault, but by Thursday, those charges had been dropped. Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier says investigators took a closer look at Dolin's story, and after questioning him, Dolin confessed to shooting himself. No charges have yet been filed against Dolin.
