Who would have thought that law enforcement officers and donuts could peacefully coexist?

Well, that hurdle will be overcome on September 15 at Krispy Kreme in Missoula.

Public Information Officer for the Montana Highway Patrol, Kristin Banchero made the announcement this week that certain MHP troopers would be stopping by Krispy Kreme on Saturday, September 15 to meet members of the public over a donut, or two.

“Krispy Kreme approached us to see if we would be interested in doing a community outreach event in partnership with them,” said Banchero. “They wanted to do a ‘donut patrol’ event, which is basically an opportunity for people to buy donuts and come meet their local area troopers.”

Banchero said the event will be in mid September as a fundraiser for a charity that is near and dear to the hearts of troopers.

“It’s going to be held on Saturday, September 15th from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Krispy Kreme Missoula location, and there will be Missoula area troopers there to meet and greet the public, so we encourage people to come out, buy a donut and meet their local troopers, and a portion of the sales will go toward the Montana Hope Project,” she said.

The Montana Hope Project was started in 1984 by the Montana Highway Patrol, and has grown into a non-profit organization recognized all over the state of Montana. The mission of the Montana Hope Project is to fulfill the dreams and wishes of the children of Montana who suffer from a terminal, critical, or chronic illness that are between the ages of 2 and 18 years.
