As the Legislature wrangles with the budget, a 32 million dollar cut to higher education has those in the university system asking them to maintain a level budget. Commissioner of Higher Education Sheila Stearns says higher tuition is something students and parents are concerned about.

Montana State University President Waded Cruzado says the Universities are not asking for increases in funding.

and University of Montana President Royce Engstrom warned that the cuts would produce higher unemployment for Montana students.

 The cuts would come from governor Brian Schweitzer’s proposed budget.
