On Aug. 9, a bag of money was stolen from the Baskin-Robbins ice cream booth at the Western Montana Fair.

Police have been puzzling over this case for weeks, and are now asking the public for help. Here are some of the detailed circumstances around the incident that were released by Missoula Police and Crimestoppers:

While the victim was closing up the booth around midnight, he noticed the power cord had been unplugged from the outside.  When he returned, he noticed the bank bag filled with cash had been removed.

Prior to this, a white male adult approached the victim asking if he was giving out free ice cream .  This male is described as being in his mid to late 20’s, approx. 5’ 10” and 160 lbs., tan skin and dark hair wearing a red t-shirt.  During this time, the victim also noticed an African-American male described as approx. 5’10” and 180 lbs. in his mid 20’s, wearing a light colored t-shirt seated on a chair directly behind the booth.
