Helena man faces endangerment, drug charges

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A 24-year-old Helena man who police say shot himself in the shoulder during a struggle with officers over a gun faces a criminal endangerment charge along with two drug charges.

The Independent Record reports Joshua D. Gray was jailed on suspicion of criminal endangerment for shooting the handgun during a March 18 struggle with officers who had responded to a report of a loud fight.

Court records say after the shooting, officers obtained a warrant to search Gray’s residence, where they found a psilocybin mushroom growing operation. Gray faces charges of criminal production or manufacture of dangerous drugs.

Gray had been cited a day before the shooting for possession of marijuana.

Gray was hospitalized after the shooting.

The IR reported Wednesday he is jailed with bail set at $50,000.
