A 37-year-old Harrison man faces a felony count of assault on a peace officer who was trying to arrest him on a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports Kyle Paul Rosencrans is charged with assault on a peace officer, DUI, resisting arrest and speeding. He was to appear in Justice Court Thursday morning.

Charging documents say Rosencrans was stopped for speeding on Tuesday.

The trooper said Rosencrans smelled strongly of alcohol and was "very argumentative." The trooper asked Rosencrans to get out of his truck. When the trooper tried to take Rosencrans into custody, he said Rosencrans pulled away and kicked the trooper in the groin. Prosecutors say Rosencrans continued to resist arrest after an officer put him on the ground.
