Hardin Man Gets Prison in Fatal Crash

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A 24-year-old Hardin man involved in a fatal drunken driving crash while fleeing from authorities has been sentenced to five years in prison for vehicular homicide.

The Associated Press reports Dustin Wegner pleaded guilty on Jan. 3 for the December 2011 crash that killed 21-year-old Kenneth Russell Woody IV. District Judge Blair Jones immediately sentenced Wegner to 20 years in prison with 15 suspended and recommended he participate in the state boot camp program.

Court records say a Big Horn County deputy tried to pull over a pickup in Hardin on Dec. 15, 2011 and the driver headed south of town at speeds of up to 100 mph. The pickup went off the road and flipped end over end.

Both men were ejected.

Woody died at the hospital the next day.
