The championship boys game at the Southwestern A District basketball tournament was a "nail-biter." Hamilton and Butte Central commanded different parts of the game, leading to a tense fourth quarter. The final score was Hamilton 61 Butte Central 57. Hamilton is now 20-0 in an undefeated season.

The Broncs took control of the first quarter and led 20 to 9 as the second quarter started. At the half, Butte Central had reduced the lead and trailed by six - 30 to 24. Then, the third quarter happened. At the end of the quarter, Hamilton had scored 9 more points but Butte Central had picked up 20 and the lead - 44-39. The final quarter saw the teams come within a point of each other. The game ended on free throws - with Hamilton winning the game 61-57. In the boys consolation game, Frenchtown edged by Dillon for third place in the tournament.

Earlier the girls Southwestern Championship was won by Frenchtown over Dillon 43 to 41. The girls consolation was won by Butte Central over Hamilton Lady Broncs 47 to 42. All the top eight teams will be in the Divisional tournament in Butte February 22-24.
