With fall camp officially starting today for the Montana Grizzlies football team, I will begin previewing this year's squad on a position-by-position basis.

Up first are the offensive tackles, the lifeblood of any good offense. A tackle must protect the quarterback against speedy pass rushers and gain leverage in the run game.

Here's how the Griz stack up:

Chuck Burton, Sr.
Jon Opperud, Sr.
Jeremy Lapan, Jr.
Kjeby Oiland, So.
Joe Dahl, Fr.
Jordan Hines, Fr.
Logan Hines, Fr.
Trevor Poole, Fr.
John Schmaing, Fr.

                                                                                                                                                                                                      RETURNING STARTERS: 2

PLAYER TO WATCH: Jon Opperud

SLEEPER: Kjeby Oiland

FUTURE STAR: John Schmaing

Overall, the Grizzlies' offensive line in 2011 will be a major strength, particulary at tackle, where seniors Jon Opperud and Chuck Burton return after starting a year ago. Opperud will play left tackle, Burton will play right tackle. Behind them, junior Jeremy Lapan, sophomore Kjeby Oiland and freshman Trevor Poole are relatively untested. Freshman twins Logan and Jordan Hines, along with Billings Senior product John Schmaing have great potential down the road.
