Grizzly Bear Found Dead in Charlo Area

Wildlife officials are investigating after a 2-year-old grizzly bear was found dead in the Charlo area.

Tribal bear biologists on the Flathead Indian Reservation were conducting a routine telemetry flight Wednesday when they discovered the bear's radio collar was transmitting on mortality mode. The biologists were trying to recapture the bear and another bear for killing chickens in unprotected coops.

Tribal bear biologist Stacy Courville says the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is investigating the death.
