Assistant coach for the University of Montana Grizzlies Scott Gragg says the pregame at Kidd-Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina, the home of the Appalachian State Mountaineers was specially prepared to get the crowd..and the Mountaineer team..at a fever pitch.

Gragg says the big screen showed the closing minutes of the last two times Montana and App State met...both times in Missoula...and both featuring last second Grizzly wins to send Montana to the National Championship game.

Needless to say, the pregame festivities were effective in getting the crowd ready to greet the visiting Grizzlies on their first trip to Boone.

The Grizzlies played valiantly, despite several costly miscues by redshirt freshmen quarterback Trent McKinney who threw three interceptions, but also passed for two scores and ran for another. Running back Dan Moore had a very impressive game, with two scores, including a reception for a touchdown that went almost 90 yards in just one play. After the score, kicker Chris Lider hooked the extra point try wide right, and the score was 28 to 27, App State. The Mountaineers scored another touchdown in the fourth quarter to ice the game 35 to 27.
