The Montana Grizzlies football team came up just short Friday night against Sam Houston State in their semifinal playoff game.  The Griz pulled within 3 to make the score 31-28, but that would be the final score and the Bearkats will play for the national title.
The Bearkats have had their offense working, running the ball at will and racking up a 28-7 lead in the 2nd quarter.  The Grizzlies then showed why they belong in the postseason.  Caleb McSurdy returned an interception for a touchdown to close out the first half and pull the Griz to within 14.
The defense came out with a bend but don't break mentality in the 2nd half, giving up yards to the SHSU offense, but only yielding 3 points.
Montana pulled within three when OB Jordan Johnson ran 54 yards on an option play for the score.  The Bearkats then put the game away with a long drive that drained the clock and allowed them to end it.
The Grizzlies end the year with an 11-3 record and cap what was a great year and resurgance of Montana Grizzly football.  Montana is proud of our boys and we can't wait til next year.  We are Montana.  GO GRIZ!!!!!
