A 32-year-old Great Falls man has been sentenced to jail time for poaching two bull elk in southwestern Montana in 2012 and 2014.

The Helena Independent Record reports that Casey McGee has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of hunting bull elk without a valid permit and a misdemeanor charge of illegal possession of a game animal.

As part of his plea agreement his sentence includes fines of more than $5,000, 18 months in jail with all but nine days suspended and loss of hunting, fishing and trapping privileges for five years.

In a separate case, McGee has pleaded guilty to trespassing on restricted state lands and a private ranch in northwestern Montana and pleaded guilty to an over-limit cow elk charge.
