GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A Great Falls jury has convicted a man of causing the death of a 2-year-old girl last summer.

The Great Falls Tribune reports that jurors deliberated for three hours before finding David Wayne Hyslop guilty of deliberate homicide in the death of October Perez, the daughter of Hyslop's ex-girlfriend.

The toddler died in October of head injuries suffered while in Hyslop's care on June 23, 2011. Prosecutors alleged the girl's death was the culmination of a pattern of abuse she suffered at the hands of Hyslop

The jury agreed, despite Hyslop's attorney saying that someone else was responsible for the child's injuries and there had been another person in the house that day.
