A local contractor was working on a carpet installation project at the Lake McDonald Lodge inside Glacier National Park when it is believed that he died of natural causes. 

Park spokesperson Denise Germann said the death occurred on Saturday, May 9.

“Park dispatch received a call at approximately 1:30 p.m. regarding an unconscious male at the Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park,” Germann said.  “Park rangers responded to find a 68-year old male from Whitefish unresponsive and not breathing.  They performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other life saving measures, but the man was declared dead through medical control and Three Rivers EMS Ambulance and Rescue personnel.”

“The death is believed to be from natural causes,” she said. “The contractor was at the Lake McDonald Lodge overseeing a carpet installation project. Cooperating agencies assisting with the incident included Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, Three Rivers EMS Ambulance and Rescue, and Glacier National Park Lodges.”

The contractor's name has not yet been released.
