Average retail gasoline prices in Montana have not moved in the past week compared to prices nationwide which have fallen 1.5 cents per gallon. Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski with Gasbuddy.com has more:

"The current statewide average is $3.60 per gallon. That's exactly where we were a week ago and that's exactly where we were a month ago," Laskoski said. "A year ago we were at $3.69 per gallon, so all things considered, we're in pretty good shape right now."

Laskoski said he doesn’t expect any new movement in prices in the weeks ahead.

"August numbers typically do not come in as strongly as July does," Laskoski said. "Refineries recognize that consumer demand tends to fall off toward the latter part of the summer. At this time of the year though, going into August, we typically see demand come down a little bit. At the same time, refineries are preparing for the transition back to winter blend gasoline which comes in September."

Laskoski said July was a very strong month nationwide. He adds that depending on how things go in August, gas prices will be sure to reflect any activity.
