A freezing rain advisory is in effect on Monday, January 18 due to slick roads throughout western Montana.

Meteorologist Jennifer Kitzmiller with the National Weather Service Office in Missoula said the rain has been falling most of the night.

"We are already seeing ice form on some of the roadways this morning, just because the temperatures are hovering just around freezing right now," Kitzmiller said. "The ground temperatures are actually below freezing, so even though you may see your car temperature saying it's above freezing, that doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be ice on the roadways this morning."

Law enforcement agencies contacting KGVO News ask drivers to slow down and use extreme caution due to the slick roads, as well as those using sidewalks and parking lots, due to ice from the freezing rain.
