Adair Jewelers in Missoula has gathered Montana sapphires from mines in Phillipsburg and Helena and is giving them away to western Montana women that graduated high school this year.

"We've already given away almost 450 of them this year," said store owner Jim Adair. "We decided they can have a little chunk of Montana as they scatter all over the country after they graduate."

Adair says the pendents range in value from $100 to $195 dollars and that the stones are set in sterling silver.

"There's no catch, they just need to come in and we check them off the list," Adair said.

The pendants will be available to recent graduates that come into Adair Jewelers until school starts next fall.
