Fox and Laslovich Make Primary Battles for Attorney General

Tim Fox campaigned to be Montana’s Attorney General in 2008. He’s going to try again this year.

Fox filed as a Republican for the office being vacated by Democrat Steve Bullock, who defeated Fox in the last general election. Bullock is now running for governor. Fox will face Victor state Senator Jim Shockley in the Republican Primary. Shockley, who filed last month, had been hinting at running for the AG position since early last year.

Fox, a private practice lawyer in Clancy, MT, said he wants to fight the federal health care law and wants to continue a crack down on sexual offenders. He has also been Environmental Coordinator for the Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation.

On the Democratic side, state Senator Jesse Laslovich filed for Attorney General, setting up a primary battle with Pam Bucy, the Department of Labor attorney. Laslovich became a Montana state Representative in 2000, and also served two terms in the Senate, being elected in 2004 and 2008.

Laslovich, from Anaconda, has most recently been chief legal counsel for State Auditor Monica Lindeen. He wants to continue tough state laws against drunk driving and also has been successful fighting securities and insurance fraud.
