Former Lady Griz player Julie Deming, 32,  was killed over the weekend in a car accident in Vancouver, Washington.

Montana Lady Griz head coach Robin Selvig expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his friend and former player, whose last game was in 2004.

"Well, I've shared some great memories with Julie, she always made it to our Portland game, and that's the last time we visited with her, and we remembered some great times together," Selvig said.

"She had a spectacular senior year and a great final game. She loved being a Lady Griz and we loved her being a Lady Griz. She was part of a pretty big family, and we are going to miss her here, and it's just a hard thing," Selvig said.

Selvig said Deming was working in the medical profession in the Portland area.
