[/caption]Although the sun is shining in most of Montana, the threat of rising rivers and streams still exists. The American Red Cross sheltered 220 evacuees at the Montana State University Petra Hall the evening of May 29. A shelter will remain open until evacuees are able to return safely home. The Red Cross has sent disaster assessment teams to several communities both in south and central Montana to assess damage to homes. Public Affairs Specialist for the Montana Red Cross, Lori Grannis says so far they have recorded 1,844 overnight stays at their shelters since the beginning of this operation.
