Folks traveling up to Glacier National Park experienced delays at the North Fork Road this weekend due to the Glacier Rim Fire.

"We are currently at 80 acres, 25% contained, and we're getting pretty high humidity today," Public Information Officer Sonja Hartmann said. "We feel like we are making pretty good work today with the weather conditions giving us an in. This fire hasn’t spread quickly, you know, it was first started on June 27th. So, with all those days we haven't had large acreage on this fire."

She estimated a total of 90 firefighters on scene along with two helicopters. No roads are closed at this time; however, Hartmann said there are safety precautions for the area.

"Things to keep in mind if you are headed up that way to float or drive is that we are asking from the Great Northern Flats area down to the Glacier Rim those two river access sites that you please don't stop on the roadway or if your floating as well because we are running river dips to help fight the fire out of the river and we can't do that when we have boats in that section," Hartmann said.

Two houses were evacuated, but no injuries have been reported. Officers are still investigating the cause of the fire, but it’s believed to be human caused as it began near a shooting range.
