A set of missing military records for Republican U.S. House candidate Ryan Zinke has finally been provided to the press. Zinke campaign Communications Manager Shelby DeMars describes the recent additions:

"In the last 24 hours, we've received in addition to the fitness reports which were released on Monday, we've received a variety of records including various copies of awards that Ryan has received over the years," DeMars said. "Copies and write-ups of the two bronze stars that he has received, meritorious service records, things like that."

DeMars said the complexity of Zinke's service is the main reason for the delay, but also said that some of the hold-up was due to the different "coding" used by the various military departments that had access to Zinke's records.

"He's been involved in many, many, many complex, very high-security missions. Therefore, his records are very complex and very hard. They're what the Navy calls 'controlled records,'" DeMars said. "We had to go through a process to go and apply and get copies of those."

Last week, many John Lewis supporters were hoping the missing records would have some material that could swing voters before November 4. The big piece of the missing picture came with a fitness report issued Monday, this week. These final pages don't appear to contradict the message found in earlier releases.

MSU political science professor Dave Parker said via Twitter that the political hubbub over the documents was "much ado about nothing" and that he noticed the words "outstanding" and "exceptional" a lot in the reports.
