The death of Rita Maze, the Montana woman who called her family saying she had been abducted at a rest stop at Wolf Creek and was later found dead in her trunk in Spokane, is still a mystery to the public. The FBI has been very tight-lipped about the investigation, but did release some interesting news today, September 12 via FBI public information officer Sandra Yi Barker.

"The Salt Lake City Field Office, along with our local partners, continues to investigate the death of Rita Maze,” Barker said. “They’re still investigating, but I can tell you at this time there does not appear to be any public safety threats.”

Yi Barker also said that the FBI was still “looking at all possibilities.” With no information about a suspect and no reported suspects in custody, Yi Barker was asked if there was an alternative explanation for Maze’s death, but the FBI is still choosing not to comment.
