As the Legislature enters into the home stretch, Governor Brian Schweitzer blazed up his veto branding iron and stopped 17 bills yesterday. Among those bills was Republican Representative Champ Edmonds’ bill to end same day registration. Nearly 19,000  Montanans have registered on election day since the law went into effect in 2006. Missoula County Democrats applaud governor Schweitzer’s decision to veto HB 180. Chair Jason Wiener was pleased to see this bill get vetoed.

The Governor and the Legislature still need to hammer out a contentious budget agreement before the end of this Legislative Session.
