Senator Jon Tester today introduced his latest legislation to strengthen gun rights. Tester has introduced a bipartisan bill to prevent the obama administration from enacting any new-quote-“emergency” gun regulations. The bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms has asked for new rules to track gun purchases. A-t-f officials requested the new regulations to help fight violence on the U.S.-Mexico border. Tester rejected that reasoning. He says any discussion about Americans’ basic rights should be debated in the open.

Tester’s legislation would prevent a-t-f from going around congress to collect records on Americans’ gun purchases. The bill would also forbid the U.S. Department of Justice from expanding reporting requirements on firearms.
