Some Flathead residents were shaken awake early Saturday morning by a 3.6 magnitude earthquake.

The epicenter was located just south of Somers, on the northwest end of Flathead Lake, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake struck at 12:30 a.m. No damage has been reported.

According to earthquaketrack.com, a second, 1.6 magnitude earthquake was detected in the area about 8 hours later, with an epicenter northwest of Columbia Falls.

The largest earthquake to strike the Flathead Valley in the last 6 months was a 3.9 magnitude quake in the same area.
