GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A 10-episode documentary filmed on a Hutterite colony in Montana is scheduled to debut on the National Geographic Channel on Tuesday.

The documentary, titled "American Colony: Meet the Hutterites," was filmed at the King Colony near Lewistown from last September until early March.

The program gives viewers a glimpse into the lives of residents of a small Hutterite colony and addresses such controversies as the use of modern technology and the level of education Hutterite children should receive.

In the first episode, colony cook Bertha Hofer is torn by her children's interests in life outside the colony.

She wants them to remain Hutterites, but she also wants them to be happy after their father's depression led to his suicide six years ago.
