Do You Live in One of America’s Most ‘Well-Read’ Cities?

The people at Amazon have emerged yesterday with their annual list of the most well-read cities in America.

Surprisingly enough places like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles did not make the cut at all.

The DC suburb of Alexandria, Virginia swept in this year and claimed the top spot on the list. In fact, Alexandria was one of three cities in Virginia to make the list, followed by Arlington at number seven and Richmond at number 20. Washington, DC itself fell just in the middle at number nine.

Florida was also home to three cities making the list.

Cambridge, Massachusetts, home to a little college you may have heard of called Harvard, placed second in the rankings.

Amazon’s list is comprised from data collected from more than 100,000 residents based on total book, magazine, and newspaper sales in both print and Kindle format since June 1, 2011.

However, the data collected by Amazon does not accurately represent how many of those purchases were actually read by customers.
