Voting is a great freedom and a great responsibility we have as Americans. I know when I filled out my ballot that I felt a great sense of pride. In fact, I actually got a little verclempt, my heart was racing, my palms were sweaty and I even got a little choked up. Even with all these symptoms, I wouldn’t consider voting a life or death experience. But a Michigan man did.

It seems that an elderly man was voting with the help of his wife when he stopped breathing. The wife started screaming and a home-care nurse came to her aid. The husband had no heartbeat. The nurse performed CPR on the man and a few minutes later he began breathing again. The man’s first words after being revived were, “Did I vote?”

Now that is an American. The man actually dies and when he comes back to life he doesn’t tell his wife he loves her or ask what happened, he just wants to know if his vote counted. This is pretty amazing if you ask me. I mean when was the last time that you were so passionate about your freedoms as an American?
