At around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, Missoula Police were called to a residence in the 1400 block of West Broadway. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains what happened when officers got there.

“Probation officers had made contact with an individual identified as 25-year-old Nathen Thomas,” said Welsh. “Thomas apparently had an outstanding warrant and the probation officers passed him off to a Missoula police officer who transported him to the Missoula County Detention Center.”

According to Welsh, Thomas was charged with a couple new crimes once he arrived at the detention center.

“While he was changing clothes, detention officers discovered that he had in his possession what appeared to be methamphetamine and marijuana,” Welsh said. “Those suspicions were later confirmed and Thomas is being held for drug related offenses as well as a prerelease violation.”

Thomas is being charged with a felony for his possession of meth, but only received a misdemeanor for his possession of marijuana because it was his first offense.
