Democratic Senator Jon Tester Says He’ll Support Nuclear Deal with Iran

U.S. Sen. Jon Tester says he will support the nuclear agreement negotiated with Iran.

The Montana Democrat said Thursday the deal holds Iran accountable through intrusive inspections and aggressive monitoring.

Lawmakers are preparing to vote on the agreement that would curb Iran's nuclear program in exchange for relief from sanctions.

Tester is one of a handful of Democrats to come out in support the deal since Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York announced his opposition.

Most Republicans are opposed to the accord brokered by the U.S., Iran, Britain China, France, Germany and Russia. They say Iran can't be trusted and the deal doesn't go far enough.

Tester says he read the agreement, consulted with experts and listened to constituents before making his decision.
