Deborah Dewey to Perform at the University of Montana for Scholarship Fundraiser
An internationally renowned pianist will be performing at the University of Montana for a fundraiser next Friday. Sharon Weaver-Knowles with the Missoula Music Teacher’s Association explained the benefits of this fundraiser:
"There's a wonderful pianist in Seattle named Deborah Dewey," Weaver Knowles said. "She has offered to come and present a benefit concert for us to help us raise money for scholarship fund that we have and are raising money for each year in an annual fundraiser"
Weaver-Knowles said the fundraiser proceeds will go towards a scholarship fund for a music major at the University of Montana, and then some.
"We have an endowment fund at the University of Montana, and it goes for college music majors—piano—but we need to add to it," Weaver-Knowles said. "So, we've been giving $500 scholarships each year to piano majors, and then we have scholarships that we give to music camp students and this is to help them to get to music camp, and be able to pursue their interests a little bit more easily."
Dewey’s performance will be on March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Montana Recital Hall.
