Deadly Accident Near Lolo Pass

One woman is dead and her twin sister is in St. Patrick Hospital after a one vehicle accident at mile marker 5 on Highway 12, just this side of Lolo Pass. Authorities on the scene say the vehicle left the road about 7:30 last night and crashed in a heavily wooded area. Both women were ejected from the vehicle and one was pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving sister was able to crawl with a broken leg onto the side of the highway where she was spotted by a passing car. She was taken by life flight to the hospital. The names of the women have not yet been released. The crash is under investigation by The Montana Highway Patrol.
