The prescription drug registry, house bill 83, passed the Legislature on its third and final reading in the Senate. The registry would provide an important tool to doctors and pharmacists to prevent abuse and save lives. The problem of prescription drug abuse has reached epidemic levels. The Missoula City-County Heath Department is having their second prescription drug, take back event. Public Health Nurse Kari Sproull says it is important to dispose of unwanted and expired pills properly.

The take back event will be at the Southgate Mall and the Missoula Senior Citizen’s center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on April 13Th . If you can’t make the event Sproull says to crush unwanted pills and mix with kitty litter or coffee grounds and then it throw away.
