HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Simmering allegations of misconduct against Lake County policing agencies are so far not resulting in any tangible findings.

An interim legislative committee even took the unusual step of looking into the problems late last month, but in the end didn't take any action.

A game warden under subpoena told the panel that county law enforcement officials are rallying to protect their own from poaching charges.

And a former detective with the Lake County Sheriff's department says he suspected a local officer was involved in a 1997 murder. But Dennis Lewis says he was ordered to classify it a suicide.

Last month, the attorney general's decided there was no reason to bring charges in three other complaints.

The agency says it has no plans to look into other issues.
