Cow Moose Found Dead From Multiple Bullets, Poaching Investigation Underway Near Avon

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is investigating the death of a cow moose discovered near Avon in the vicinity of Carpenter and Ophir Creeks.
Local game warden Joe Kambic discovered the moose after hearing reports of an injured moose in the area on Tuesday. “What he found was a dead moose, but a moose that probably hadn’t been dead for too long,” says FWP Spokeswoman Vivica Crowser.
Kambic suspects that the moose was shot several times by a low caliber rifle on Monday and that the moose survived through the day and was left to waste.
Anyone with information about this or other wildlife crimes is asked to call 1800 TIP MONT (1 800 847-6668). Informants can also contact Joe Kambic directly at 406 490-1227 with any information on the poaching.
