Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst released the following statement regarding the weekend arrests of three UM football players and two other individuals on charges of felony burglary.

"Over the weekend, the Missoula Police Department arrested five individuals on burglary charges after a homeowner called 911 to report a burglary in progress at a residence on Pattee Canyon Drive.

All five had been scheduled to make initial appearances in Justice Court this afternoon, however, I have asked the Court to postpone those appearances to allow time for further investigation. All five individuals have been released from custody on bond.

The initial investigation did not provide sufficient information for my office to determine if felony charges are appropriate. The Missoula City Police Department has given this case to their detective division for further investigation. We are meeting with the detectives this morning to request specific additional information. Once the investigation is sufficiently complete, our office will make individual charging decisions for each of the suspects."

The three players, all seniors, Kendrick Van Ackeren, John Schmaing and Joey Counts will appear Tuesday in Missoula Justice Court along with McLain Tomlinson and Courtney Reep at 3:00 p.m. One source has told KGVO news that charges against Reep, 22, have already been dropped, although that has not been confirmed by the county attorney's office.

The five were arrested and jailed after police responded to the Pattee Canyon Drive address early Sunday morning,
