Last week, a woman who identified herself only as Lee, claimed that the Missoula Police Department and the Missoula County Attorney's office, including the County Attorney himself, Fred Van Valkenburg, discriminated against her in a case of physical abuse in which she said she had been badly injured. Lee claimed the County Attorney's office determined the man who assaulted her had 'reasonable cause' to do so. I contacted Mr. Van Valkenburg about the claims and he and his staff found the case Lee was referring to that occurred nearly three years ago.
