Authorities say a 17-year-old Corvallis girl has been killed in a crash just south of Victor Crossing.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Rockey Bailey tells the Ravalli Republic that the Corvallis High School student was driving on the Eastbound Highway Monday morning when her sport-utility vehicle drifted off the road and struck fence.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma. She was wearing her seatbelt and Bailey says speed does not appear to be a factor.

The teen was alone in the vehicle.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman says he won't release the name of the victim until Tuesday.

Corvallis High School principal Jason Wirt says grief counselors have been meeting with students Monday and will be there for the rest of the week.
