City – University Sign Quality of Life Memorandum [AUDIO] [DOCUMENT]

Monday morning at 10 a.m. , the City of Missoula and the University of Montana entered into a quality or life understanding, to increase student housing, and improve relations between the city and the University.
Missoula Mayor Jon Engen, University of Montana President Royce Engstrom and ASUM President Zach Brown took part in a ceremony signing the memorandum of understanding pledging to work together on a variety of efforts to enhance student housing and improve neighborhood relations.
Mayor Engen said the recent cooperation between the city and the University regarding finding a solution to provide help for those who have experienced the pain of sexual assault helped to open and improve communication between the entities.
Engen says a working group will be empaneled in the new year to begin fleshing out the memorandum. One of the goals is to build 1,000 unites of safe, affordable student housing in the next two years.
