A 49-year-old Billings child and adolescent psychiatrist has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. James H. Peak entered his plea in federal court on Wednesday as part of a deal that calls for sentence that is more lenient than usual because of his "extraordinary acceptance of responsibility." Sentencing is set for Nov. 16. Court records say Peak reported to the Billings FBI office in February that he had received a mailing that offered child porn for sale. Prosecutors say he later acknowledged having a collection of child porn that he received through the mail, and that he had fought the interest for many years. Peak was suspended from Billings Clinic, where he had worked since 1994, and he voluntarily surrendered his medical license. Prosecutors say there is no indication he ever touched a child inappropriately.
