Missoula County authorities are on the lookout for a stolen Stihl chainsaw. Missoula County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone recounted the events that led to the crime in this way.

"Last Friday [June 14] at about two o'clock in the morning, a resident up on Highway 12 in Lolo was awoken by a noise outside of his house," Pavalone said. "So he looked outside of his window to see what was going on and he saw a vehicle pulling out of the bottom of his driveway onto the highway. The next morning he went out to his garage and discovered that his Stihl chainsaw, with a 20 inch attached bar, had been stolen."

Because the chainsaw was stolen late at night, very few details about the vehicle were noticed by the victim. The only detail Sheriff's deputies have is that it was a “smaller, white passenger car.”

The chainsaw is valued at approximately $650. It is a Stihl model 044 with the serial number 126449583.

Anyone with any information about this case is advised to call either the Missoula County Sheriff's Department or Five Valley Crimestoppers at 721-4444.
