Governor Steve Bullock made statements upon the plan written up by House Republicans last Thursday. While Bullocks proposed plan, would invest money for the future and make a responsible budget, he says that the Republican plan, will only ignore issues.

“It turns its back on children with autism, which will cost families and the state more in the long run.” Said Bullock “It skips out on the rent the state owes private sector businesses. It puts some of our most vulnerable populations in harm’s way by denying much needed funds that would be used to protect children from abuse and neglect”

According to Bullock, many amendments were made to bring back many of these essential services, but in the end they were denied by the house. Bullock says that for the state to function, we have to work together, and he will accept nothing less

“I will not accept a budget that puts Montana’s fiscal health in jeopardy and that fails to fulfill our obligations to the people of Montana.” Said Bullock “If HB 2 were to arrive on my desk today, I would have no choice but to veto it.  I am disappointed in the political games at play here. The people of Montana expect us to do better.”

Bullock hopes that when the House Republican Bill reaches the Senate, it will be reconsidered.
