Dad, daddy, old man, pa, papa, pappy, pops, however you refer to your father we've got the perfect places to take dad this Father's Day. Let's face it even if your dad wears his underwear until they disintegrate or refuses to throw out those old socks, buying a necktie or underwear isn't his idea of a great gift. This year, don't spend a lot of money or even waste time shopping for gifts he'll never use, instead make this Father's Day the most memorable yet with our list of the five best places to take dad on Father's Day in Missoula.

1) A Day of Golf

The most obvious route is to take dad for a round of golf at any one of the beautiful courses here in Missoula. Keep in mind tee times fill up fast on Father's Day so plan ahead and be sure to bring along a celebratory cigar from The Bell Pipe & Tobacco or a nice set of balls to commemorate the occasion. I love golfing all over Missoula because every course has it's own unique feel. Canyon River is one of the nicest courses around, but King Ranch in Frenchtown is one of my favorites - nothing like blue skies and a big open course to enjoy a special Sunday afternoon with dad.

2) A Day of FISHING

2011 is shaping up to be a major flood year in Montana and across the country, but don't let high river waters keep you away from spending some quality fishing time with pops this Father's Day. Lake fishing offers a variety of species ready to snag like fly fishing for rainbow trout, lake trout, whitefish, pike and bass. There's really no better way to celebrate the day than on a lake with a 6-pack, a couple of reels and dad. 3) A Day of SHooting

If guns are more your thing, Father's Day is the perfect opportunity to hit a shooting range and site rifles or take aim at a slew of clay pigeons. At Deer Creek Wildlife Area you can bring your rifle, pistol or shotgun and shoot the day away with two 300-yard rifle bays, three 100-yard rifle bays, four 50-yard rifle/pistol bays, ten 25-yard pistol bays and a shotgun area with a claybird launcher.

4) A Day of drinking

Go on what I like to call a 'Brewery Toury'! With so many amazing breweries in Missoula, make mom the official DD and hit up each of our local breweries to sample some of Missoula's best brews. Wrap up the day buying dad a commemorative growler filled with his favorite brew! Here's a list of our favorite breweries:

5) A Day OF bbq

If a Sunday in the backyard is in order, Father's Day is one of the best days to spend with family and friends in the comfort of your own backyard. Start by moving the lawn, then grab a few rib eye steaks and fire up the grill. Surprise dad with an ice cream cake or his favorite treat for desert and let the good times roll.
