Senator Max Baucus met with administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration, Stephen Wright this week urging BPA to move forward with a plan that would reopen Columbia Falls Aluminum Company. Reopening CFAC would create as many as 350 good-paying jobs in the Columbia Falls community. CFAC shut down in 2009 putting hundreds of people out of work.  Administrator Wright oversees BPA, which is the federal agency that markets power from 31 hydroelectric dams and a nuclear plant in the northwest.

Finalizing a power sales agreement between BPA and Glencore (CFAC’s parent company) is expected to pave the way to reopening Columbia Falls Aluminum Company by providing power to the facility.
