BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — A $100,000 arrest warrant has been issued for a 29-year-old man that prosecutors say drove a suspect in an assault and attempted rape to Missoula after he escaped Bozeman police custody.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1m7B5Y5 ) William Michael Smith of Bozeman was one of five people charged Monday with obstruction of justice for aiding Kevin Briggs after his Feb. 1 escape. Briggs was arrested Feb. 21 in Portland, Ore.

Smith was arrested in Bozeman on March 10 on an Idaho warrant alleging he violated probation in a drug case. He was returned to Shoshone County and appeared in court on April 7. Jail records indicate he was released the next day.

Prosecutors say Smith told the FBI on Feb. 6 that he gave Briggs a ride to Missoula.
