The DeSmet School District's middle school has been named a National Title I Distinguished School for continuing to meet federal academic standards. This honor is awarded to just two schools per states each year. Principal Shelley Anders  says they were chosen for closing  the "achievement" gap. (That interview is attached below)

With this award the school will receive  $30,000 from the Office of Public Instruction.  The honor is given to a maximum of 100 schools around the U.S. by the National Title I Association, which represents the thousands of Title I schools around the country.
