Governor Brian Schweitzer reaches the end of his term in 2012. A large field of candidates has emerged from both the republican and democratic parties. One candidate has successfully served Montana in the U.S. House of Representatives and is returning to public service in an attempt to lend his expertise in leading the state. Rick Hill leads all candidates in fundraising with just over one-hundred thousand dollars donated to his campaign. Hill says the message he is receiving is clear.

Hill says unemployment and underemployment are stressing Montana families.

The republican is hoping to take advantage of a mandate voters sent to legislators in the fall of 2010.
